Black Panther Has Cracked the Top 10 Highest Domestic Gross of All Time

The Black Panther box office numbers continue to blow us away as record after record is broken. Being king is one thing, but to be Top 10 of all time is something special. The nation of Wakanda has landed at the #9 spot for all time domestic box office. Black Panther sprang past last year’s Beauty and the Beast with $506.4 million in US ticket sales. Did we mention it’s only been in theaters for three weekends?

The only other Marvel movie that ranks higher on the list is Marvel’s The Avengers. The 2012 ensemble film sits at $623.4 million in domestic gross. That puts Black Panther a mere $119 million away from taking top spot in the franchise. What previously seemed unlikely is now considerably more conceivable. Overtaking Avengers would land the film in the top five for domestic gross.

Star Wars holds three spots on the list with The Force Awakens reigning supreme. Black Panther trounced Finding Dory, knocking it down to #11. Here’s the current standing:

  1. Star Wars: The Force Awakens– $934.6 million
  2. Avatar– $760.5 million
  3. Titanic– $659.4 million
  4. Jurassic World– $652.3 million
  5. Marvel’s The Avengers– $623.4 million
  6. Star Wars: The Last Jedi– $619.1 million
  7. The Dark Knight– $534.9 million
  8. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story– $532.2 million
  9. Black Panther– $506.4 million
  10. Beauty and the Beast (2017)– $504 million

Worldwide, Black Panther is quickly closing in on $1 billion. The current #1 movie in theaters has swept up $905.1 million across the globe. Avatar ranks highest among global box office numbers with $2.79 billion, so it would be hard to dethrone. Hitting the $1 billion mark, however, would put Black Panther in league with The Dark Knight. Wakanda forever, indeed.
