Parenting Isn’t Easy, Even for The Incredibles

Turns out parenting is always hard, even when you’re a superhero. Especially if your kids have superpowers of their own. The trailer for The Incredibles 2 finally premiered during the Olympics last night, and it’s everything we’ve been waiting for.

The trailer picks up after a battle with familiar villain, The Underminer. Following that victory, the Parrs try to go under the radar again. A rich benefactor approaches them to reenter the force. The last time there was a villain seeking out the Incredibles, however, it was something of a trap.

Bob Parr (Craig T. Nelson), aka Mr. Incredible, is charged with caring for Violet, Dash, and baby Jack Jack while their mom is out saving the world. Superheroes are still illegal, but Helen (Holly Hunter), aka Elastigirl, has obviously found an opportunity to put her super skills to work. Being the strongest man in the world isn’t of much use to Bob when the kids run wild. Having endless energy would suit him better.

We still don’t know the full extent of Jack Jack’s powers. It appears he has laser eyes, turns into a mini monster, and now we have a look at a new one. Jack Jack can apparently teleport. His combined powers really keep Bob on his toes. As many parents can relate to, the wild things our kids do don’t tend to alarm the parents as much as other observers. Lucius Best, aka Frozone (Samuel L. Jackson), is back and unprepared for the wild world of raising a super baby. Best of all, Edna Mode is back with her high fashion and cutting wit.

The Incredibles is a Pixar classic, and we’ve been waiting fourteen years for the sequel. Composer Michael Giacchino, whose musical career exploded after scoring The Incredibles, was excited to be back on the scoring stage. He tweeted a short clip of the recording session earlier this week.

Giacchino has gone on to compose Up, Lost, Inside Out, Jurassic World, Rogue One, War for the Planet of the Apes… Ok, the list is too long. He’s one of the most sought after composers in Hollywood, but it looks like there’s still a special place in his heart for The Incredibles.

The Incredibles return June 15.
