Cool New Things in The Last Jedi To Keep an Eye Out For

It’s a big galaxy out there, and each installment of Star Wars introduces us to some magnificent new discovery. The Last Jedi trailers and teases have left our mouths watering over the crystal foxes, new First Order vehicles, and of course, porgs. Right up to the last minute we’re getting information about the new surprises in store. Parade magazine has a two page spread with some really fun highlights about what new treats lay ahead. Ultimate fans will be pouring over every word, but here are some of our favorite tidbits. Read no further if you want to go into the film knowing as little as possible!

There’s possibly nothing more iconic about Star Wars than the famed lightsabers. Rey spent a good deal of The Force Awakens tracking down Luke’s lightsaber and returning it to him, which was no simple feat. Luke’s lightsaber is famously green, while Darth Vader wielded his iconic red saber. Darth Maul broke ground with a double-sided sword, and fans went crazy over Kylo Ren’s tri-tipped weapon. According to the infographic, there may be a new color to debut in the film. What color it may be, and who it might belong to, are secrets you’ll only discover in the theater.

The adorable BB-8 is going to have an evil twin. BB-8’s nemesis is a black android named BB-9E. We got a little glimpse of the new guy in the animated “Star Wars Blips” released this summer. The interaction was really cute as BB-8 is happy go lucky and playful while BB-9E seems to be a poor sport. We look forward to seeing more of the lookalike, but there’s no question who our favorite will be at the end of the day.

The biggest mystery at hand is Rey’s family. Fans are wondering if she could be a descendent of Obi-Wan Kenobi, or even be related to Luke himself. Actor Daisy Ridley won’t comment on how close we are to getting answers, but she does confirm that Luke and Rey have a powerful journey together.

The most emotional element of The Last Jed will be the inimitable Carrie Fisher’s final performance as General Leia. Effects wizards did an unbelievable job in recreating the likeness of the late Peter Cushing in Rogue One for scenes that included Grand Moff Tarkin, but luckily everything we’ll see from Leia will be authentic. Director Rian Johnson said that her scenes are completely unaltered and will be seen as they were shot. We hope to see Leia get the grand sendoff she deserves.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters December 15.
