Wonder Woman Smashes Worldwide Box Office

Wonder Woman has done it again, beating out many of her male rivals. This year’s DC Comic smash surpassed $800 million worldwide besting Man of Steel at $668 million and Suicide Squad at $420.5 million. Domestically, Diana Prince defeated Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2Spider-Man: Homecoming and Logan at the box office falling short of only Beauty and the Beast for 2017 releases.

DC Comic and Marvel films have long battled for control of the box office, but Wonder Woman has topped out with the best of them. A mere $5 million more would power her past Captain America: Civil War and Iron Man 3 for worldwide gross. Pulling it off would place her in the top five superhero films with The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, Avengers, and Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman returns to theaters this November in Justice League, an Avengers-sized ensemble film that unites her with Batman, Spiderman, Aquaman, The Flash and Cyborg. DC is already planning a Wonder Woman 2, and has its sights set on an Oscar nomination for the history-making original and it’s director, Patty Jenkins.

If you’re anxiously awaiting your chance to relive Wonder Woman‘s glorious dawning in the modern DC Universe, the time is near; Wonder Woman is available on Digital HD August 29 and DVD and Blu-Ray on September 19.
