It’s always a big deal whenever Christopher Nolan releases a new film, and his upcoming Dunkirk needs to be on your radar. Shooting his first historical drama, depicting a crucial moment during World War II, Dunkirk has quietly released some of the best trailers of the summer. Warner Bros. has dropped the latest, a thrilling, minute-long look at the series of events that helped change the tide of the war.
Dunkirk is based on the massive rescue operation that was mounted to save more than 330,000 British and Allied troops who were pinned down on beach. It took regular civilians and soldiers alike to figure out a way to get the soldiers off the beach, and every look we’ve seen of Nolan’s film thus far has left one word in our minds; epic. What’ll make your viewing experience more epic is to check out the film in 70mm, with select theaters around the country playing it in this super-wide format. Tickets for special 70mm engagements go on sale today. Here's a look at that new trailer:
The cast, as is this case with all Nolan movies, is large and impressive. It includes Tom Hardy (they worked together on both Inception and The Dark Knight Rises), Mark Rylance (Bridge of Spies, Wolf Hall), Kenneth Branagh (My Week with Marilyn, Hamlet, Henry V) and Cillian Murphy (Inception, The Dark Knight Trilogy), as well as newcomer Fionn Whitehead. You'll also see Aneurin Barnard, Harry Styles, James D’Arcy, Jack Lowden, Barry Keoghan and Tom Glynn-Carney.
Nolan's Interstellar cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema is back, along with other longtime collaborators like production designer, Nathan Crowley, editor Lee Smith and costume designer Jeffrey Kurland.
Dunkirk arrives on July 21.
