Watch The Dark Tower‘s Mesmerizing Second International Trailer

Sony’s already had a certifiable hit this summer with Edgar Wright’s deliciously delirious, music-obsessed Baby Driver, but don’t think the studio is done. They’ve got The Dark Tower coming, the adaptation of Stephen King’s acclaimed series, with a new international trailer that puts the focus on the film’s two megastars—Idris Elba’s the Gunslinger and Matthew McConaughey’s the Man in Black.

The new trailer is the most propulsive yet, with action set pieces that look, from this shortened vantage, pretty spectacular. Directed by Nikolaj Arcel and adapted by Akiva Goldsman and Jeff Pinker, The Gunslinger isn’t so much as a straight adaptation of any one of the books, but rather a continuation of the epic story within them, as to try and deliver on King’s sprawling, hugely detailed world would have likely been a fool’s errand.

Here’s the film’s official synopsis:

There are other worlds than these. Stephen King’s The Dark Tower, the ambitious and expansive story from one of the world’s most celebrated authors, makes its launch to the big screen. The last Gunslinger, Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), has been locked in an eternal battle with Walter O’Dim, also known as the Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey), determined to prevent him from toppling the Dark Tower, which holds the universe together. With the fate of the worlds at stake, good and evil will collide in the ultimate battle as only Roland can defend the Tower from the Man in Black.

The Dark Tower hits theaters on August 4.
