Final Wonder Woman Trailer Introduces Origin of her Shield

In the past week alone, we’ve been treated to two new Wonder Woman TV spots and a new trailer. Now, less than a month before the film’s release, there’s yet another full length trailer to obsess over.

This new trailer– the final one in an extremely thorough marketing campaign— gives us even more of a glimpse into Diana’s backstory, including the introduction of Wonder Woman’s famous sword and shield. The shield, it turns out, was young Diana’s idea: a brave promise to her very anti-fighting mother to keep safe in the face of danger.

It’s that same brave front Diana (Gal Gadot, reprising her Wonder Woman role from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) puts on after revealing her choice to leave the safety and stability of Themyscira:

“If you choose to leave, you may never return,” her mother warns.

“Who will I be if I stay?” Diana responds. Cue the triumphant music, appropriately enough titled “Warriors” by Imagine Dragons.

Alongside Gadot, Wonder Woman features Robin Wright (Forrest Gump, House of Cards), Chris Pine (Star Trek), David Thewlis (Harry Potter, The Theory of Everything) and Connie Nielsen (Gladiator).

Wonder Woman hits theaters June 2. In the meantime, we’ll have the trailer below on repeat.
