At Long Last, Benedict Cumberbatch Comes to SNL

Benedict Cumberbatch, upcoming star of Marvel’s Doctor Strange, will finally be taking the Saturday Night Live stage by storm on November 5th in New York City. “We meet at last,” he whispers in the TV spot released this week. Dramatic music ensues as he approaches the dimly lit stage that has been graced by countless entertainment legends before him.

With a career that began in London’s theatre scene before transitioning to TV roles that culminated in his award-winning Sherlock performance, the British actor has since starred in Hollywood blockbusters such as The Hobbit series, Star Trek Into Darkness, 12 Years a Slave, and The Imitation Game. His dedicated fan base will be pleased by SNL’s comedic skits that will surely include many sci-fi references and pay homage to past roles. The gig is an excellent marketing ploy for Marvel as well, with Doctor Strange excepted to earn $70 million in domestic revenue when it opens this weekend.

Catch SNL this Saturday night with musical guest Solange at 11:30 pm EST on NBC.
