Get Excited: Margot Robbie in Talks for Harley Quinn Movie

Suicide Squad isn't out until August 5, but we can already pretty much guarantee that Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn will be one of the best parts. She's practically stolen every trailer they've released thus far, including the very first trailer that hinted at Quinn's character being a potential linchpin to the whole sordid affair (and director David Ayer has said as much). Ayer posted this question, which would confirm the notion that Quinn's love for the Joker is a central plot point in Suicide Squad: "The case of Harley Quinn: Her madness defines her. Is she mad because of WHO she loves or because she loves him so much?"

With Batman v Superman getting so much scrutiny for being so serious, Robbie's gleefully sadistic Quinn has been like a breath of whiskey-scented fresh air every time she's appeared in one of the trailers. Here's a reminder:

The Hollywood Reporter has it that Robbie and Warner Bros. are in talks to give Quinn an even larger role in an upcoming film, having her headline a movie with a bunch of female heroes and villains. "In an interesting twist, the project is not a Quinn solo movie," the Reporter's Borys Kit writes. "Rather, it would focus on several of DC’s female heroes and villains, with names such as Batgirl and Birds of Prey surfacing."

You can bet that if Suicide Squad is a crowd-pleaser, it'll be in large part to Robbie's performance as the delightfully deranged Quinn, and that the decision to give her another film to shine will seem like a very wise one.
